Check Bill & Money Value
A free money checker for dollar bills and world banknotes. Check money value in three steps: type the note's name, pick your series, and see catalogue prices for every grade.
Searches that find the right note
The catalogue names notes by denomination and type, not by nickname. These searches cover the old money people check most:
Read your bill before you search
Three details on the front of a US bill narrow thousands of catalogue entries down to one. The type is printed across the top: Federal Reserve Note, Silver Certificate, United States Note or Gold Certificate. The series is the year after the word SERIES, with a letter when the signatures changed (1957 A, 1957 B). The seal colour confirms the type: green, blue, red, gold, brown or yellow.
Condition then sets the price within that series, and a star at the end of the serial number marks a scarcer replacement note. Not sure which note you hold? Use the money identifier to name it from a photo.
Money checker questions
How do I check the value of my bill online?
Type the denomination and note type into the checker, for example “5 dollars silver certificate”. Pick your note from the results, then choose your series from the list to see catalogue prices for each grade. The year printed after “SERIES” on the front tells you which one you have.
Is this money value checker free?
Yes. Searching the catalogue is free. Opening a note's full price table is limited to one note a day on the web; the Dollar Bill Scanner app scans and values bills without that limit.
What do the grades mean?
Paper money grades run from Good (heavily worn, limp, tears possible) through Very Good, Fine and Very Fine (folds but crisp paper) to Extremely Fine, About Uncirculated and Crisp Uncirculated (no folds, original sheen). A single fold through the centre already drops a note out of Uncirculated.
Why does the checker show no price for my note?
Not every series has recorded sales in the catalogue. Try another series letter of the same note from the list, or scan the bill in the app, which estimates from the grade and the closest priced issues.
Can I check foreign money too?
Yes. The catalogue covers 42,000+ banknote types worldwide. Add the country to the search, for example “20 euro” or “5 pounds bank of england”.
