About the app
Is the Dollar Bill Scanner app free?
The app is free to download, and the free version includes 1 banknote scan and 3 articles. Unlimited scans, values, collection and search come with the optional “Unlimited Access” subscription: $3.99 a week after a 3-day free trial, in the US (prices vary by country). You can cancel any time in your Apple ID settings.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later. An Android version is not available yet.
Does it detect counterfeit money?
No. Dollar Bill Scanner is a bill reader for collectors: it identifies banknotes and estimates their collector value. It is not a fake money scanner and does not check security features. For a suspect note, contact your bank or see the US Currency Education Program.
Can it read money for blind or low-vision users?
Dollar Bill Scanner is built for identifying and valuing banknotes, not for reading out the denomination of cash in a wallet. Free money reader apps designed for accessibility are a better fit for that.
What happens to my photos?
Photos are used only to identify the banknote you scan. The app asks for camera access to take photos and photo library access only for the pictures you choose to upload.
Values are estimates for reference; not every banknote has market data, and identification is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Privacy policy.
